Chigaco Times (1875): "Por três vezes [David Whitmer] esteve no "Monte Mórmon" e viu a caixa que continha as placas e a Pedra Vidente".
Foi relatado que David Whitmer vira a caixa de pedra da qual as placas foram retiradas.
"Por três vezes [David Whitmer] esteve no Monte Cumora e viu a caixa que continha as placas e a pedra do vidente". Eventualmente, a caixa foi levada até o pé do morro, mas era para ser vista quando ele visitasse pela última vez o lugar histórico.[1]
