Discussion:Book of Abraham/Joseph Smith Papyri

Mike: I note that you start with the quote from HC that purports to be a quote from Joseph that says "the writings of Abraham while he was in Egypt, called the Book of Abraham, purportedly written by his own hand, upon papyrus." Is this of any use in demonstrating that Joseph reported what the book "purported," about itself, and so his references to it being written by Abraham were more a 'shorthand' than anything, while when being more precise he indicated that it was "purported" to be by Abraham? --Greg Smith 23:44, 4 Jun 2006 (EDT)
